How To Properly Clean Your Fan

Nov 18, 2015

Most of us that live in the tropics know how hot it can get sometimes. We rely on fans and air conditioners to keep our temperature and sanity from hitting the roof.

Electric fans need care and love. We will be looking at care of fan and properly clean them.

As a fan keeps blowing air around, dust quickly settles on it especially the blades. If you leave this for a long time, you will notice that your one white fan looks black. On closer inspection, you will notice caked dust.

To Clean your fan properly:

  • Put the fan off. If it is a ceiling fan, turn it off at the control and if it is table or standing fan turn it off both at the control and socket then unplug it.
  • In a bucket add some detergent and water.
  • With a piece of cloth that is lint free, dip in the bucket of soapy water and wring out excess water.
  • Clean your fan until all dust is gone.
  • If it is a table or standing fan, you can easily dismantle it and wash the blades instead of cleaning.
  • With a dry piece of cloth dry out excess water.
  • Put back the parts of your table or standing fan and then turn on your shinning and clean fan.
